List of Services
-
Week 1 - Introduction to Sustainable LandscapingList Item 1
Is climate change on your mind? Ours, too.
In this class you’ll be introduced to the steps in designing a garden that is both functional and resistant to climate change, so regardless of how the weather changes, your property will look beautiful.
Together we’ll imagine garden areas. Discuss how to create healthy growing spaces, include entertainment and relaxation areas, and then look at how we can blend them all. Using environmental practices like green infrastructure, water conservation, site-appropriate plants, and climate-resilient practices.
-
Week 2 - Make your PlanList Item 2
It’s time to start the planning process
Using a 2D plan (on paper), you will learn how to assess your own property, and accurately record where your downspouts, sheds or outbuildings, and trees are. Then, we’ll discuss drainage, soils, and existing vegetation, and how to go from what you currently have to a sustainable property.
All these steps will make our next lesson in stormwater management easy to implement.
-
Week 3 - Low Impact DevelopmentList Item 3
Rain. Snow. Hail.
However it falls from the sky, it’s all water — and stormwater management is a guiding principle in sustainable landscaping.
There are so many wonderful options, including rain gardens that are incorporated into beautiful patios, meandering pathways, and other perfectly functional spaces in your yard. We will also open the conversation about how green roofs, permeable paving, and a variety of materials can help to control water on your property.
-
Week 4 - Plant WeekList Item 4
Who doesn’t love a luscious garden?
It’s time for visual appeal! In this class, you’ll learn the basics of planting schemes, so that throughout the season, your yard will feature a variety of heights, textures, and colours.
We'll discuss how and when to consider privacy, sun/shade, moist/dry areas, and the use of native/non-native plants on your property. While putting more work into your 2D plan, you’ll be able to anticipate the amount of maintenance that will be required, so you can design spaces that you’ll enjoy throughout the season.
